If you’ve driven Genesis Road lately, you’ve probably noticed things are moving. Crossville, Tennessee is getting a brand new shopping center, and it’s a big one.
Here’s what we know so far and what it means for anyone living here or thinking about making the move.
The Quick Facts
✨ 180,000 sq ft retail development
✨ $50 million investment
✨ An estimated 200 new jobs
The project is being developed by Pan American, and the Crossville Regional Planning Commission approved the site plans back in May. The plans call for several large anchor stores along with smaller retail buildings, so this is more than one or two new storefronts. Think of it as the Crossville version of the Jackson Plaza in Cookeville, TN.

Where It’s Going
The center is planned for an 18-acre lot on Genesis Road, right behind Starbucks and Advance Auto Parts. If you know Crossville, that puts it in one of the busiest stretches in town, just off I-40 at Exit 320. Easy to get to whether you live in town, out toward Fairfield Glade, or anywhere along the Genesis corridor.
Which Stores Are Planned
Here are the stores planned for the center so far:
- Aldi. This is the one I hear people get the most excited about. Affordable groceries and a quick in-and-out trip make Aldi a weekly stop for a lot of families.
- Hobby Lobby. Crafters, home decorators, and anyone who has ever needed a picture frame on short notice, this one’s for you.
- Marshalls. Clothes, home goods, and those finds you didn’t know you needed until you saw them.
- Burlington. Another great option for clothing and home items at a lower price point.
Having all four in one place means fewer drives out of town to get your errands done, and that’s a real quality of life upgrade for a town our size.
What This Means for Crossville
A $50 million investment and around 200 jobs is a big deal for Cumberland County. New retail brings new paychecks, more sales tax revenue for the city, and more reasons for people passing through on I-40 to stop and spend time here. It’s also a sign that national retailers are paying attention to Crossville and the growth happening across the Upper Cumberland.
What This Means If You’re Moving to Crossville
One of the first questions I get from out-of-state buyers is some version of “Where do you go shopping?” Crossville has always had the essentials, and this center adds a lot of the familiar names people are used to from bigger cities. You get the mountain views, the outdoor lifestyle, the lower cost of living, and no state income tax in Tennessee, without giving up the convenience of stores you already know.
If you’re house hunting, keep an eye on the Genesis Road area. Growth like this tends to make a part of town more convenient to live near, and it’s worth factoring into where you search.
When Will It Open?
There’s no official opening date yet. Projects like this take time to go from approved plans to ribbon cuttings, and store lineups can shift along the way. I’ll keep this post updated as the city and developer share more.
